How to Install Bathroom Tile for Non Professionals

It's much more economical to do things yourself – especially in financially-difficult times such as these.  Rather than pay for home products and the service of workers, one can circumvent the cost of the latter by self addressing the project.  Our entire site is devoted to helping people just like you with DIY projects such as how to install bathroom tile.

To begin, measure the length and width of the bathroom, enabling the assessment of how much cement, tile, and grout is needed.  Tiles come in many varieties.  Consult a professional or an in-store worker if you need help deciding on tile.

Next, you must prepare the sub floor.  Tiles need placement on clean, flat surfaces.  Tiles are heavy; be sure the sub floor is structurally sound.

Tiles come in a vast variety of shapes, and can be arranged in a number of ways.  You don't have to be a professional to know how to install bathroom tile so it looks professionally done.  Start with the center of the door jamb and work your way out.  Such a decision minimizes the number of tiles that must be custom cut and end at the edges of the bathroom floor.

The resources for learning how to install bathroom tile are available, yet in some cases, it's recommended to ask questions.  Questions can be answered by in-store professionals and won't come at a price!  Relate your experience level, type of tiles, and sub-floor material chosen to professionals and ask for their insight regarding any safety precautions or preliminary steps.  This could save you a lot of headache in the later steps.

As previously referenced, start at the center of the door jamb and work your way out towards the room's other side.  Use consistent measurements regarding the space between tiles.  Most adhesives begin to solidify within 30 minutes, so it's necessary to wipe away any excess between tiles.  After addressing a few rows, gently pound the tiles down with your hand or a rubber mallet to ensure levelness.

Depending on the layout of the room, you'll have to cut tiles into odd shapes.  Tile nippers or tile saws are available at any hardware store.  Mark all lines with a pencil before cutting to ensure an exact match.

There's no need to be intimidated.  You can learn how to install bathroom tile through our blog posts and instructional videos.  We offer a lot of information to consumers, helping them cut costs on home projects!
